
This module covers the pathophysiology of PEI, risk factors, signs and symptoms, complications, diagnosis, management strategies, such as treatment with pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy (PERT), including CREON®.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Identify the signs and symptoms that are associated with pancreatic exocrine insufficiency (PEI)
- Recognise patients who have a higher risk of developing PEI by assessing their lifestyle and their medical history
- Describe the direct and indirect tests used to assess and diagnose PEI
- Outline the optimal management of PEI, including pancreatic enzyme replacement therapies (PERT; including but not limited to CREON®), dietary advice and client education
